We are looking for a licensed Truck Driver who will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of local freight/packages to our customers, driving and maintaining assigned trucks, and working closely with the dispatching team to plan routes and track deliveries. This will be an exciting opportunity for the right individual to come into a growing operation and help put their stamp onto the company.
You must possess great physical and mental stamina to be a successful candidate for this position. Must withstand long hours on the road, be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently. A clean driving record and the commercial driving experience are a must!
Responsibilities:
- Drive long distances to deliver goods to customers on time
- Confirm that the contents of each shipment load match the manifest document
- Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required
- May be required to load and unload cargo, record cargo deliveries
- Refuel and clean vehicle
- Report road incidents to the dispatcher and follow accident procedures
- Produce pre-trip inspections and report any mechanical problems to maintenance personnel
- Maintain an e-log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Plan routes using the GPS and follow traffic laws
- Adhere to company rules and regulations
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
- Maintain a positive attitude with customers
- Keep commercial driver’s license and medical up to date
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Proven two years of driving experience in the Logistics Department as a Truck Driver or a similar role
- One year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years required, or 2 years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 5 years
- A verified Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
- Must be able to pass a background check, physical exam, drug and alcohol test and a clean driving record is compulsory
- Strong working knowledge of using the GPS and ability to plan routes accordingly
- Solid understanding of HOS, truck driving rules, and regulations
- Ability to sit and drive for long hours at a time
- A hardworking and trustworthy individual with good time management skills
